Kolkata, March 26
The Malda district authority has reportedly failed to terminate the mopping-up operation in the district. The mopping-up operation reportedly continued in several moujas of Malda district on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Malda DM Chittaranjan Das said: “Mopping-up operations took place in several moujas of Sahapur gram panchayat till this evening. Most of the mopping activities in the district have been completed. More than 300 birds have been culled.” Sources said that mopping operations may continue tomorrow.

“Thirty-one teams had visited various affected areas in Malda. However, due to opposition in certain villages, the mopping-up operation was progressing slowly. In certain areas, culling teams were forced to wait for a entire day, as people discouraged them from carrying out the operations,” said Das.

The Minister for Animal Resource Development, Anisur Rehman, said: “ The outbreak of bird flu in Malda is an isolated incident. Rehman also talked about the need to promote the sale of chicken in villages and suburbs. He said, “It is important to concentrate on promoting chicken sales and consumption of chicken.”
