Kolkata, April 11
With the counsels of the Golf Club and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation not appearing in today's hearing in a case involving a dispute over a boundary wall, the Calcutta High Court said the matter will be heard two weeks later.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice SS Nijjar and Justice Indira Banerjee were hearing a public interest litigation alleging that the Golf Club at Tollygunge had illegally constructed a wall on a road belonging to the KMC.

The 30-feet wall, constructed on Golam Mohammed Shah Road in May 2006, divides ward 94 and 95.

The road, which passes through the Golf Club is vested with the KMC and was an important connector.

Clashes had broken out over the issue on May 14, 2006, when the construction had been initiated, thereby closing the road.

Later, residents of Bijoygarh filed a PIL in the Calcutta High Court, seeking an order to demolish the wall, following which the Golf Club and the KMC filed affidavits to present their view.
