Imperialism in pink
Two days before sweeping the polls, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said at an election rally that Great Britain owed it to its rule over India to settle Kashmir. He was, no doubt, making a last-minute effort for wooing the support of the Pakistanis settled in England. But while doing so, he has enunciated that an imperialist power does not change its mind-set.

Stop judging films in camera
National film awards never ceases to bewilder. Juries for decades refused to take note of Ritwik Ghatak's masterpieces. Finally, when they did he wasn't around to receive the award in 1976. Again, the jury finally detected some cinematographic excellence in Subrata Mitra's camera work for New Delhi Times in 1989.
