With the change of guard at the Centre a power struggle within the CBI has broken out. CBI director Joginder Singh is apprehensive that he may be divested of his plum posting shortly and is fighting desperately to stay on. Singh seems keen to damage the chances of any potential successor.

Karunanidhi calls all-party meet on clashes
The Tamil Nadu government convened an all-party meeting on Wednesday (May 14) to discuss about the continuing communal clashes in the southern districts of the state and the steps to be taken against recurrence of such incidents. He said that the government did not previously deal with the clashes firmly as it wanted to avoid deaths and injuries to people.

Kesri is a "dictator" & an abberation: Antulay
Senior Congress leader A R Antulay has described Sitaram Kesri as a "dictator", asserting he will strongly oppose him in the race for the party presidentship and support Sharad Pawar for the top organisational post. Attacking Kesri, Antulay said that as a provisional president of the party, he had no power to withdraw support to the Deve Gowda government.
