Bhagat quits Cong in protest

NEW DELHI: Former Union minister H K L Bhagat on Monday resigned from the Congress in protest against the party's decision not to field him as its candidate for coming by-elections to the East Delhi Parliamentary constituency. Bhagat, who filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate for the second largest constituency in the capital earlier in the day, also hinted at the possibility of his floating a new regional political party `Delhi Vikas parishad'.

MCC attack

KODERMA: In stepped up violence the outlawed Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) today gunned down 11 persons in Bihar's Koderma district while four others were killed by Naxalites in Gaya and Garhwa districts during the past 48 hours.

UAE relaxes rules

DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates has decided to allow all categories of expatriate workers to change their local sponsors, subject to certain conditions. This will benefit foreign workers.
