Decision on sugar decontrol next week

[Details] Total decontrol of sugar is in the offing with the food ministry seeking abolition of dual-pricing which will remove the subsidy on the commodity. It has proposed that the subsidy of Rs 600 crore that will be saved should be passed on to lower the price of wheat and rice distributed through ration shops.

Canon to make photocopiers in India

[Details] Canon India Pvt Ltd is planning to set up a manufacturing base for photocopiers in India with an initial investment of US $9 million. It is in the process of conducting a study to identify the location at which the plant is to be set up. In India, Canon plans to have 20% market share in photocopiers by the turn of the century.
