DSE chief asks SEBI to explain

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, May 29: Maintaining an adamant posture, the Delhi Stock Exchange president Paramjeet Singh today asked the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to first clarify veracity of a report attibuted to the market watchdog on he being declared a defaulter.

Even as the deadline given to the DSE president by SEBI to explain charges levelled against the SEBI nominee on the DSE board and DSE executive director ended today, Singh maintained that his explantion will follow only after SEBI clarifies its position.

In his letter to SEBI, Singh said ``I request you to kindly check the veracity of the statement attributed to SEBI or SEBI officials'' before clarifying my position.

He said since the news item attributed to SEBI official was published before his statements, sebi should confirm the veracity of the report before him replying to SEBI's letter.
