MUMBAI, May 29: Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde today reviewed the law and order situation in view of Prime Minister I K Gujral's visit to the metropolis on Saturday. Talking to the press after a meeting with senior officials, Munde said he had given specific instructions on security arrangement to the police. The decision follows an attack on the police party by gangsters at Saki Naka on Wednesday evening. Munde said when the police officials on duty made an attempt to intercept a car, they (the gangsters allegedly belonging to Kumar Pillai gang), threw hand grenades at the police. While two police officials were injured in the bomb attack, three of the gangsters were killed in the shoot-out, Munde added. Referring to the controversy over the posting of a section of the Senior Inspectors of Police, Munde said he had no role in the process as the decision was taken by the Commissioner of Police in accordance with the guidelines of the state government. ``V V Phad, who has been shifted from Kurla to M R A Marg Police station is not related to me neither do I know him,'' Munde said denying allegations against him over the posting. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dinesh Afzalpurkar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) P Subramanian and Commissioner of Police S C Malhotra.
