STC in the soup over the sugar exports to Pakistan

The State Trading Corporation appears to have been caught on the wrong foot while attempting to re-enter the sugar exports market after a period of several years. STC, which won the contract to export 25,000 tonnes to the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) by bidding $10 per tonne less than the ISIGEIC price of $360 per tonne, managed to supply a mere 3,650 tonnes.

Nod for BPCL project despite objections

Ignoring the objections raised by the Union petroleum ministry, the board of Bharat Petroleum Corporation has approved the proposal for setting up a Rs 7,346-crore petrochemicals complex in Tamil Nadu, the home state of the Minister for Petroleum, T R Baalu.
