Quicktakes -- Freeze CRB accounts, orders RBI
MUMBAI: THE Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today directed all commercial banks to freeze all the accounts of the CRB group of companies except that of Daewoo Finance (India) Limited. The RBI said, apropos the Delhi High Court order of June 23, all banks have been directed to take necessary action with regard to freezing any amount lying in the account of CRB Capital Markets and 40 sister concerns of the company to the extent of their liabilities, dues, shares and investments made in those companies by CRB Capital Markets Limited. Journalists protest SRINAGAR: Kashmir journalists today decided to boycott all government functions as a mark of protest against police beating a number of them. The journalists belonging to Indian and foreign news agencies, leading national dailies as also the local press surrendered their accreditation cards to the Director of Information demanding suspension of three police officials responsible for the beating of the journalists. KLF man killed JAMMU: Unidentified Punjab militants here today shot dead Daljeet Singh alias Dalla, a close associate of slain chief of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), Manjit Singh Pappi. Two militants who had come from Punjab in a car went to meet Daljeet Singh at his business complex at Transport Nagar near here. The duo called out Dalla and fired at him.
