MUMBAI -- Gold prices tumbled to another low of Rs 4,400 following persistant fall in international prices and increased selling pressure on the bullion market. However, silver, recovered marginally on fresh industrial buying.

Standard gold declined by Rs 35 from the last close of Rs 4435. 22-carat gold was also nominally quoted weak at Rs 4,070 against yesterday's close of Rs 4100, while 10-tola gold bar of.999 purity fell sharply by Rs 400 and finished at Rs 51,500 compared to Rs 51,900.

MUMBAI -- KEC International has recommended a higher dividend of 38 per cent for the year ended March 1997 against 35 per cent. With the turnover rising by over 50 per cent, the net profit has gone up by 17 per cent despite a fall in other income.

Kapol Coop Bank

MUMBAI -- Kapol Co-operative Bank Ltd has registered Rs 4.89 crore net profit during the year ended March 1997, recording a 70 per cent increase over the previous year. According bank chairman K D Vora, deposits rose by 25 per cent to Rs 153.15 crore in 1997, while advances shot up to Rs 91.37 crore during the year. The board has maintained a dividend of 15 per cent.

Chowgule Steam

MUMBAI: The directors of Chowgule Streamships have recommended a dividend of 10 per cent for the year ended March 1997. The company's freight earnings and charter hire receipts amounted to Rs 82.24 crore (Rs 87.89 crore) and earned a higher gross profit of Rs 37.69 crore (Rs 33.16 crore). The profit after taxation amounted to Rs 16.03 crore ( Rs 15.44 crore). n EEB
