VELLORE, July 31: Following a tip-off on smuggling activities being carried out near Kannamangalam in Thiruvannamalai district, forest police personnel detected a group of 25 smugglers in a lorry on the area this evening. The police opened fire as the lorry trieddriver tried to drive the vehicle towards the officials, killing one of the smugglers.
