August 14: Cadbury Schweppes today said it never had intention to uncork the ``Canada Dry freedom salvo'' in Parliament by Lata Mangeshkar.

``There was never any intent or mention, in any of their publicity material, of uncorking the Canada Dry freedom salvo in Parliament by Lata Mangeshkar or any other person at any stage during the Independence Day celebrations,'' the company said in a statement here.

Agitated members in the Rajya Sabha had threatened to stall the special midnight session in Central Hall protesting over plans to make Lata Mangeshkar open Canada Dry during the function to celebrate 50 years of Independence.
