August 15: The coast guard today recovered the bodies of four girls who drowned at the Aqsa beach, of which three were declared dead. One girl and boy were still reported missing at the time of going to the press.

Sujata Nair (22), Rekha Menon (22), Anuroja (10), Sangeeta Nair (12), ten year-old Namrata Sawant and six-year old Sujit Sawant had gone swimming in the beach water when they were seen drowning. The coast guard has launched a search for the missing duo, and the case is being investigated by the Malwani police.
