MCOCA court finds Shakeel aide guilty

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, JANUARY 18: The conviction of Chhota Shakeel’s female associate Tabassum Khan who was tried under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) could cripple his gang’s activities in his area of operation in Mumbai, a senior police officer said today.

Tabassum Khan was convicted for five years rigorous imprisonment on Thursday after she was tried under the provisions of MCOCA. She has been charged with accepting supari on behalf of Chhota Shakeel to kill a fast food vendor Aziz Gulam near Pinky Talkies at Andheri (East).

A senior police officer, on condition of anonymity, said Tabassum was the main link between some dubious policemen and mafia Don Chhota Shakeel. ‘‘She used her charm to lure these police officers and reported the developments to Shakeel,’’ said a senior police officer.
