Coach and mentor of the Delhi Daredevils, TA Sekar said, “Kedar had already played for us and had performed really well. We know what he is capable of and that is the reason we have signed him.” He added that the contract has been sent to the IPL governing body for approval.
Jadhav had scored a blistering triple century in Maharashtra’s opening Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh and Sekar said that the knock just assured the franchise that they were going for the right player.
Jadhav rose to prominence in the 2010 season when he smashed a 29 ball half century in an IPL match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Jadhav has also always been vocal about his desire to play in the IPL.
“It was the IPL that brought me into the limelight and spending a year on the sidelines (IPL 2012) was quite hard for me. I am really excited to turn out for the Daredevils in the coming IPL and repay the franchise’s faith in me,” he said.
Jadhav had also been approached by another IPL franchise but he said that the Daredevils held a special place in his heart. “Playing alongside players like Viru (Virender Sehwag) and Kevin Pietersen is an opportunity too good to miss. Also I am comfortable in the Delhi setup.” he said.
