Till the last minute of the first half, both the teams looked equally balanced and apart from few jittery moments in the initial period, none of the team managed to break the deadlock. It was in the 44th minute when Kartik produced a moment of sheer magic and conjured a magical goal to give the lead to the Mohali team. After the breather, the Mahilpur team produced a more clinical display and looked dangerous from set pieces. Despite the fine moves made by the midfielders, the forwards failed to convert those opportunities into goals as the equaliser eluded them.
On the other hand, the Mohali team rode on Baligagandeep who orchestrated a beautiful move that resulted in the second goal for the team. Inderjeet pounced on the ball and showed the ball into the net.
Meanwhile, Dalbir Football Academy, Chandigarh defeated Youngsters Club, Chandigarh, 2-0, in a lop-sided semi-final encounter. Tarsem Lal opened the account for Dalbir Academy in the 26th minute. Then, Narinder Kumar netted the ball in the 42nd minute to strengthen the team's position. The Youngster's team had the opportunity to reduce the margin when Bhupinder Singh was brought down inside the box by Ravinder Pal Singh and the referee awarded a penalty to them. However, Beckham failed to rise up to the occasion as his feeble spot-kick was stopped by the Dalbir Academy keeper.
In the second half, both the teams played well but there was no change in the scoreboard.
