New Delhi : The Delhi Lokayukta Manmohan Sarin has issued notices to Delhi chiefs of all national parties ,asking them for suggestions relating to the outdoor advertisement policy of the North Municipal Corporation.

Complainant Rajesh Garg had approached the Lokayukta protesting against the signboards, posters and hoardings put up by Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta.

Garg claimed that these posters had been put up without the permission of the municipal corporation or PWD.

The PWD officials had testified before the Lokayukta that no permission had been given by the department to Gupta to put up these posters.

The Lokayukta had issued notices to Gupta, the PWD, the DDA and the municipal authorities.

It was after reports were filed by various agencies that the Lokayuktya sought “concerted action” by the South, North and East corporations to ensure that there were no hoardings on the pavements and crossings obstructing movement of public.

The Lokayukta has taken note of the complaint that any action to remove the hoardings was only taken after the event, which was advertised was over.

He said there was a need to develop a “mechanism for a consensus between different political parties regarding putting up of hoardings on sites which do not affect the right of way.”

During an earlier proceeding, Sarin had observed that a signboard fixed on the pavement was removed by the CIT office.

This was done after a notice was issued to the Commissioner, Income Tax, Range 35-36.

The Lokayukta also sent a copy of the outdoor advertisement policy framed by MCD to political parties, so that they may discuss and suggest uniform guidelines for putting up hoardings and banners in the Capital.
