Lucknow : The UP Legislative Council Chairman Ganesh Shakar Pandey on Thursday asked the state government to open the Central Park in Noida to public if it had been dedicated to people formally in the past.

The chairman gave the direction after BSP member Mahesh Arya said the park had been dedicated to the public around a year ago, but remained closed.

Arya said tourists from across the world had recently visited Noida to watch Formula-1 race and many had wanted to visit the park . He said the closure of the park was causing revenue loss to the government.

Leader of the House Ahmed Hasan pointed out that when the BSP government had dedicated the park to public, it should have been thrown open to public.

Leader of Opposition Naseemuddin Siddiqui said the park was closed under the present government.

Siddiqui said the park was dedicated to public in the presence of a huge crowd. He said he could produce a video recording of the event.

The Chairman then asked the Leader of the House to look into the matter. The park should not remain shut after it is dedicated to public, he said.

Former chief minister Mayawati had inaugurated the Central Park on October 14 last year. Mahesh Arya had raised the issue of closure of the park in the last session of the Council in June also.
