According to police, Dharamvir Sharma worked as an assistant commissioner in the Food & Supplies department. Around 2 pm on Saturday, police control room received a call alerting them about the incident. The body has been sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police said Sharma was under severe depression for the past few months after CBI named him in a bribery case. CBI had arrested him in August this year on charges that he had demanded and received Rs 15,000 from a person for renewing a ration shop licence.
“Sharma had written in his suicide note that he was depressed over the CBI against him. We are questioning his relatives,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Southwest) A K Ojha said.
“CBI has falsely implicated me in graft charges. I cannot bear these false allegations on me and wish to end my life. I am the only person responsible for my death,” Sharma’s suicide note said.
