Talking to Newsline, Dr Kushal Singh, head of the floriculture dept, said: “Earlier we had a botanical garden near gate number 1 but we had to shift it because of the auditorium construction. After the study, we found that the land selected for new botanical garden near our own department has natural topography and inundations which are required for Japanese-style gardens. The slopes, stepping stones, curves were already there and all we need is to polish them. So the department decided to go for a Japanese-style botanical garden.”
“I came to see the flower show but was more attracted towards this garden. It felt like coming in the woods like in fairy-tales. Moreover such a place in polluted city like Ludhiana is just unimaginable. I really thank and appreciate PAU for it,” said Renu Gulati, one of the visitors.
“It is hard for a Ludhiana resident to get such a peaceful place but I am happy now we have one,” said Raminder Singh, who comes daily to PAU for his morning walk.
