Amitabh Kumar Das, the Bihar cadre IPS officer, had named Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the report while saying that “constant vigil is required, though the region is peaceful”.
Demanding recall of Das, BJP’s district in-charge Dinesh Dasa has stated in the complaint that “the report is misleading and chaotic”. “Is this his (Das) caliber to quantify an issue of no worth and core in the region of the poor tribal living with a serene and all sort of harmony with their simple day-to-day life?” Dasa has stated in the complaint.
Terming the report as an effort to earn cheap and unjustifiable publicity, Dasa has stated that Das “has a polluted and biased mind-set...and remains under the influence of few a persons having political interest”.
Dasa has claimed that since Modi took over as chief minister in 2001, there hasn’t been a notable case of rioting in the Dangs. “Gone are those days (rioting) since Modi has been taking care of this peaceful and serene state like Gujarat,” the complaint states.
“Contrary to Das’s report, the situation of communal harmony has improved a great deal in the last 10 years... That’s why we have complained to the Election Commission,” Dasa said.
When contacted, Das refused to comment.
