Ludhiana : The Beijing Olympics 2008 gold medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra might have missed a podium finish at the London Olympics. Unfazed by the failure at the London Olympics, Bindra is determined to do well at the next edition of the mega event to be held in Rio in 2016. Speaking with Sportline, during a sports event organised at Kundan Vidya Mandir in Ludhiana, Bindra said, "I will be training in Germany in most of 2013. It would be year full of preparations and challenges. There is lot of to be achieved and learn in the time to come. I have to adjust with new rules and changed international format of shooting." The Chandigarh based shooter practices in Germany with his trainer Gaby Buehlmann. Adding more Bindra felt that shooting has become a popular sport despite being a technical game and also being very challenging.
Talking about the ban on Indian Olympic Association (IOA) imposed by International Olympic Committee (IOC), Bindra said that it was fine if political leaders were part of the IOA as long as they can put up a good show and work efficiently towards the betterment of Olympic sports. "Political interference in sports federations of India does not matter till the bodies work efficiently. If a politician is able to spare required time and effort for the welfare of sports then it does not matter who heads them. The ban is very unfortunate." shared 30-year-old Bindra. "I don't know what is currently happening in order to get the ban lifted but hopefully it will be lifted soon if efforts are made with right mindset by our government," he added.
