Woman who claimed repeated rape was lying, say police

Panchkula : A police verification in a case of alleged rape by a former husband of a divorcee has revealed that the allegations were concocted. A woman of Kurukshetra had complained at Sector 20 police station that she was raped by her husband, but police said that the woman not only changed her statements frequently but had registered six cases against her former husband at different police stations in Haryana that were later proved to be false.

Station House officer (SHO) of Sector 5 police station, Inspector Surinder Singh, said that the woman frequently changed her statements about her complaint of rape and during the police investigation it was also found that she had got multiple cases registered against her husband which proved to be false.

As per police, the Kurukshetra woman was divorced from her husband some eight years back, however she had been subsequently filing complaints that her husband raped her.

According to police while the woman is from Kurukshetra and has studied upto 12-th level her husband is a carpenter. The woman earlier gave statement to the Sector 20 police that she was raped in a white Alto and Indica car. Police said that she was putting up at Nari Niketan in Ambala, but a case has also been registered against her for fleeing from the place.

“We haven’t registered any case as we found that the complaint leveled by the woman was false and frivolous,” said a police official.
