Constable dismissed for failing to take action

Chandigarh : A constable, Dalbir Singh, has been suspended by the UT Police department, following an incident where a couple, who were chased on January 12 at 12.30 am by a car which was not bearing a number plate, had approached a PCR vehicle at Housing Board light point but no action was taken.

“In wake of the lapse of providing security to the couple, the constable stands suspended from duties,” said the notification issued by UT Police. In a notification issued by the UT Police, it was mentioned that the occupants of an i-20 car which did not have a registration number plate were following a couple from Panchkula. In-charge of PCR vehicle at Housing Board Light point passed the information to the next PCR vehicle stationed at Railway light point.

However, the PCR vehicle failed to act on the message. Also, the information was not disseminated to the Police Control Room for further action by police stations and the remaining PCR, resulting in the alleged vehicle not being intercepted and it again followed the complainant’s vehicle in Chandigarh till the complainant approached the Police Station, Sector 19 to complain.
