Mumbai : Ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya, like his contemporary Prabhudheva will be part of India’s first dance film ABCD AnyBody Can Dance. However, unlike Prabhudheva, who plays the lead in the film, Acharya would be essaying a supporting role. “I am doing a brief role in the film and am playing the character of Gopi, who resides in a chawl. Beyond this, I cannot divulge more, you need to see it for yourself.” The choreographer is really happy with the way the film has shaped up. He reveals, “Remo (D’Souza) has done a good job. He has made a film beyond what I expected. He has got the right content, good casting and the production value is excellent. The film has good, foot-tapping music. In totality, the film will benefit because of the hard work put in by the entire ABCD team.”

When asked if he has given inputs as a choreographer for the film, he said, “I only followed Remo’s instructions, and never felt the need to choreograph.” Acharya, who is very excited to be a part of the first 3D dance film, adds, “Remo has used different themes in the film to make it interesting.”

Acharya, who has choreographed famous numbers like Hud hud Dabangg from Dabangg and Halkat jawani from Herione, was among the first choreographers to try his hand at direction. He had earlier directed two films — Swami with Manoj Bajpayee and Juhi Chawla and a comedy, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai with Govinda. However, Acharya is currently concentrating on only choreography, and has no plans to direct a film. His forthcoming films, include Chashme Buddoor, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Ram Leela, Himmatwala. ABCD — AnyBody Can Dance, directed by choreographer D’Souza and produced by UTV, is slated to release on February 18.
