Mumbai : The ICC Womens World Cup may still proceed in India, with Cuttack mooted as a possible venue for the Group B matches. It has been reliably learnt that ICC's tournament director Suru Nayak has proposed that matches involving Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa, all of Group B, be held in Orissa, pending the home ministry's clearance.

The ICC is expected to take the final call in a few days, but much will depend on the home ministry's assent, especially as the visas have to be approved through them. The Orissa Cricket Association president Ranjib Biswal said that they haven't heard anything yet from the BCCI or ICC. "At the moment we haven't been told anything. If any decision comes our way, we will see what we can do," Biswal said.

Mumbai will remain the venue for the Group A (England, India, West Indies and Sri Lanka) matches.
