Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has launched special bus services for these three days. AMTS chairman Amit Shah said at least 160 buses on different routes would pass from the railway station to help passengers coming to the city.
He said this was done after securing necessary permission from the Ahmedabad divisional railway manager.
Similarly, five AMTS buses would be sent to different parts of the city via Gita Mandir from Maninagar station to help passengers, he said. Besides these, 825 buses would be pressed into service on other regular routes to ease commuter rush, Shah said.
Meanwhile, Congress workers led by its city unit president Pankaj Shah held a demonstration at the Income Tax junction this evening demanding immediate rollback of the price hike. They threatened to intensify their strike if the price hike was not withdrawn by January 26. Shah blamed the hike in CNG price on the state government “which allowed gas producers to hike the gas price”.
