The protesting parents alleged that the school is not admitting their children in the schools and asking them to get the children admitted in the government schools located in Sector 28 or 20.
However, government schools in Sector 28 and 20 also denied them admissions, the parents said.
Parents and residents were seen raising slogans against the UT Education Department.
Deputy Mayor and area councilor Satish Kainth had met the DEO Ram Kumar Sharma on Monday in the concerned issue, but the meeting had witnessed heated arguments, following which, on Monday residents of the said colony staged a protest.
“The policy of the UT Education Department is not in favour of children residing in colony number 4. We had approached the authorities, but to no effect,” said Kainth.
Ramesh Kumar Sharma, one of the parents, said that he went to get his daughter admitted in the Government Model School in Sector 29, but that he was refused.
Echoing this, another parent, Arvind Kumar, said that the Sector 29 school had denied admission to his son as well in Class 1.
The DEO said that every year, admissions are given to these children and that around 90 seats have been kept for these children. DPI Upkar Singh also assured that admissions will be given to the children of colony number 4.
