The incident happened when a 17-year-old girl, a resident of Khuda Alisher, had gone to a nearby market at 11 am on September 18, 2012 to buy a note book.
The accused, Gurwinder Singh, who was standing near the shop followed her when the girl was returning and forcibly took her to a forest area nearby. There, the accused attempted to rape the girl. When the victim returned home, her mother noticed her crying. On being asked the details, the victim narrated the events that had happened with her.
The mother of the victim filed a complaint at the Sector 31 police station. On investigating the scene of crime, the police officials found CCTV footage of a camera installed in a nearby house which captured the entire crime. On the basis of the footage, a chargesheet was presented in the court on November 29.
Following the chargesheet, the court framed charges of attempt to rape and wrongful confinement against the accused, Gurwinder Singh on December 4, 2012.
On Wednesday, the court examined all 11 witnesses including the victim and her parents and the case was moved to the stage of arguments for Thursday, January 24.
