New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere with a policy decision of the J Jayalalithaa government to shift Legislative Assembly-cum-Secretariat complex of Tamil Nadu back to its old building at Fort St George in Chennai while converting the new Tamil Nadu Secretariat complex into a hospital and medical college.

Dismissing a petition on the issue, the apex court said it was not the proper forum for deciding such matters and that the petitioner should take recourse to any other forum of redressal.

The court also refrained from commenting on a vehement argument that the decision to shift the Assembly was taken by the AIADMK government only to override the earlier decision taken by the M Karunanindhi-led DMK government.

R Veeramani, a DMK leader, had challenged the High Court verdict of last year, wherein it had declined to interfere with the decision and restrain the Tamil Nadu government from shifting the Secretariat building back to Fort St George.
