About six months ago, the girl went to a next-door quack, Mohd Hassan, for some treatment. On the pretext of curing her, Hassan took some obscene pictures of her on his mobile phone. Later, he started blackmailing and raping her, threatening to go public with her pictures if she talked about it to anyone. The girl’s family came to know about her ordeal last week when they found out that she had got pregnant.
On Friday, the victim’s father met Hassan’s brother Golam Yazdani, who asked him to remain quiet and took him along with the victim to a doctor in Kishenganj, Bihar, where the health of the girl deteriorated. Yazdani then fled, leaving the two behind. The victim’s father returned on Saturday and filed a written complaint at Kanki outpost. “The culprit should get a severe punishment,” he said.
“We raided the house of the accused. Neither Hassan nor Golam could be found,” said Nanda Kumar Das, IC, Kanki outpost. He said the victim has been admitted to Islampore Hospital and as soon as she was fit enough, she would take a medical test.
