Chandigarh : The man, Ramesh, was in an inebriated state when he had a heated argument with his wife, Seema, which turned violent. He then stabbed Seema’s sister, Sonu, with a knife when she intervened

A lower court on Tuesday held a man guilty on charges of attempt to murder and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The quantum of his sentence will be pronounced on Monday, February 11.

The case dates back to July 1 last year when Ramesh, a resident of Dadu Majra had stabbed his sister-in-law, Sonu to death. Seema and Sonu, two sisters were married to two brothers Ramesh and Rakesh, respectively.

The sisters were visiting their parents’ house in Dadu Majra on July 1. Ramesh came to the city from Panipat in an inebriated state. He then asked his wife Seema to accompany him back to Panipat. Seema refused to accompany her husband due to a disputed relationship that the two shared. This lead to a heated argument which turned violent.

Ramesh then stabbed Seema’s sister, Sonu, with a knife when she intervened in the argument.

Surprisingly, Seema, who was admitted to PGI in a critical condition after sustaining a grievous stab injury in her neck, had turned hostile in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Shalini Nagpal.

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Shalini Singh Nagpal however, held Ramesh guilty for attempt to murder and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
