On Monday, 3.8 mm rainfall was experienced in the city. While on Tuesday, till 8.30 am a total of 11.5 mm rainfall was received while later in the day till 5.30 pm, 17 mm rainfall was recorded. Last year, 3.1 mm rainfall was recorded in the month of February. In 2011, a total of 19.4 mm rainfall was recorded. In 2010, the amount was 15.9 mm and in 2009 it was 11 mm.
Met Department officials say that for the next 24 hours, similar conditions are likely to prevail. Rain showers are likely to continue along with strong winds. The day temperature is likely to remain low while the night temperature will witness a dip in two days’ time.
The day temperature dipped further and was recorded as 16.6 degrees, four degrees below normal. On Monday, it had been recorded as 19.3 degrees. The minimum temperature witnessed a little increase. It was recorded as 13.6 degrees. Rainfall was witnessed throughout the region while snowfall was experienced in the higher reaches.
The rainfall disrupted traffic movement with jams being witnessed at some places. As water accumulated near roundabouts, the traffic movement slowed down. At many places, roads developed potholes. Construction activity also came to a standstill.
