Kolkata : The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to file an affidavit on the PIL challenging the Trinamool Congress government’s decision of making available specific newspapers at the government-run libraries in the state.

The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Arun Mishra, while admitting the plea filed by advocate Basabi Roy Chaudhury, has fixed February 26 for the final hearing in the case. In March last year, the government made specific newspapers available in government-run libraries. The government banned newspapers critical of its policies.
