NCC cadet Ingle still critical

The condition of 14-year-old Parag Ingle, who was hit in the head by a bullet during an NCC training camp on Friday, continues to be critical. Major General V Ravishankar, Commandant, Command Hospital, said he had been kept on artificial respiration and a tracheostomy (a surgical procedure to create an opening through the neck into the windpipe) was conducted on Tuesday for the boy to breathe. “He withstood the operation and is also responding to pain,” said Maj Gen Ravishankar, adding that there had been a marginal improvement but Ingle’s condition remained critical.

Scholarship exams on March 23

The examination for middle school (Class IV) and high school (Class VII) scholarships will be held on March 23, the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) announced on Tuesday. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) rescheduled a couple of Class XII examinations on March 17, forcing the MSCE to reconsider the date of its scholarship examination earlier scheduled on the same day. A total of 9.77 lakh Class IV students and 6.94 Class VII students across Maharashtra have registered for this year’s scholarship examinations, who will take the examination at more than 9,000 centres in different parts of the state. The MSCE, this year, is awarding 16,683 middle school (Rs 100 per month) and 16,576 high school (Rs 150 per month) scholarships.
