The MCOCA court framed charges against Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal Friday in the May 8, 2006, Aurangabad arms haul case. Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, IPC for criminal conspiracy and sections of Arms Act were applied.

The prosecution said Jundal played a vital role in transporting the arms and ammunition, which were seized by police. The state anti-terrorism squad said he was a conspirator and a mastermind in the case.

As per the chargesheet, a police team chased after a Tata Sumo and an Indica on Chandwad-Manmad highway near Aurangabad on May 8, 2006, and arrested three terror suspects and seized 30 kg of RDX, 10 AK-47 assault rifles and 3,200 bullets.

The Indica was allegedly driven by Jundal, who managed to give police the slip.

In May 2006, police claimed, Jundal escaped to Bangladesh from where he went to Pakistan on a fake passport obtained with the help of Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives.

Meanwhile, Jundal moved an application before the court against some police officers, who, he said, forced him to sign on a typed document. He claimed the document was being used as his confessional statement.
