Several areas in tribal belt and other higher hills, including Rohroo, Chopal and Dodra-Kwar areas in Shimla, Kinnaur, twin tribal valleys of Lahaul and Spiti and Pangi and Pin valleys remained cut off from rest of the state for 25th day on Sunday, while several areas of Kinnaur remained without electricity for 23rd day.
The clear weather has heightened the avalanche threat in high altitude tribal areas. Twenty sheep were buried in an avalanche in Malling Dogri village in Pooh area of Kinnaur while it damaged several apple orchards in Namgya along Indo-Tibet Border.
The high altitude tribal areas reeled under piercing cold wave conditions as mercury stayed between minus 14 and minus 23 degree Celsius.
Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded minimum temperatures at minus 11.1 degree and minus 8.6 degree C, three degree below normal while maximum day temperatures settled at 1.8 degree respectively. Key tourist resort of Manali recorded minimum temperature at minus 2.4 degree Ceslsius while Bhuntar and Solan recorded a low of 2.0 degree and 2.5 degree, followed by Palampur 3.5 degree, Shimla and Una 4.5.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the state over next three days.
