“A woman passer-by noticed who the incident informed the girl’s mother,” said an official. A complaint was filed with the Vakola police where a case has been registered.
The official added that victim was taken to Nagpada hospital wherein rape was ruled out. Shaikh has been booked under sections 363 (kidnapping), 354 (molestation) and sections 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
“The police have got Shaikh’s custody till February 14,” said sub inspector Sachin Patil. Shaikh is unemployed but previously worked as a security guard.
