Chandigarh Institute of Performing Arts (CIPA) will stage Gaj Foot Inch, written by celebrity humourist KP Saxena and directed by Shyam Juneja. The play is a bagful of laughs, promises Juneja, who is staging it for the 78th time. The play centers around Pokhar Mal, a cloth merchant who wants his son Tillu to meet Jugni, daughter of his friend Sai Dass, to know each other before their marriage is solemnised. Tillu, who is completely devoted to his business, is hesitant to meet Jugni, as he has to take delivery of his cloth consignment to avoid losses. After great persuasion, Tillu agrees to meet Jugni in a park. In subsequent meetings, the two share some comic moments, which later develop into love.
The play will be staged on February 19 at Tagore Theatre at 6.30 pm
