In his address during the 66th Raising Day function of the Delhi Police at Kingsway Camp, Shinde said he hoped the measures would instill confidence in women.
He added that there is no place for “shameful incidents” like the one reported on the night of December 16.
Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar also termed the gangrape as a “horrific” incident but congratulated his team for solving the case and making arrests within 24 hours.
Lightning strike: 28 children among 34 injured
As many as 34 persons, including 28 children, suffered injuries after lightning struck at a primary school building in Campierganj police station area of Gorakhpur district Saturday. Police said none of the injured were serious.
Apart from the children, four teachers and two cooks of the school were injured. They were admitted to Campierganj primary health centre for treatment. The police said lightning struck the electricity pole erected near the primary school building in Campiernagar village, at around 11 am when the children were inside their classrooms.
