All accused are residents of the same village in Nepal and know each other as they worked as car cleaners in Gorai.
The Matruchaya bungalow of business Shivmani Mishra was found broken into and burgled on the morning of February 10 when the family returned from Kumbh Mela in Allahabad.
Police suspected Bharat Vishwakarma, employed to clean cars at the bungalow, as he was missing. They tracked him through his mobile phone.
Call data records of Vishwakarma showed five others assisted him in the crime. All the aides — Ratan (20), Kamal (20), Hemal (28), Kapur Singh (40) and Madan Vishwakarma (29) — were employed in bungalows in Borivali and Gorai, police said. While one was a watchman and the others were cleaners. Three more are on the run.
Police claimed they recovered a few silver coins and a revolver from the five. They were presented before court Monday and remanded in police custody till February 28.
