TMC workers beat up headmaster for ‘poor student turnout’

The headmaster of a government school was beaten up allegedly for “poor turnout” of students. Of the 250 students of Halisahar Nabanagar Bharat Ratna Shastri Pathsaala in North 24-Parganas, about 20 turned up on Wednesday. This reportedly angered the Trinamool Congress workers who later beat up the headmaster, Pratiksujan Sengupta, and an assistant teacher, Sapan Karmakar, for failing to ensure good presence of pupils in the school. A police complaint has been filed at Bijpur police station. No arrest has been made so far.

School lock broken after gatekeeper fails to turn up

The president of the managing committee of a government school was allegedly assaulted by Trinamool Congress supporters after they found the school gate locked. Students and staff of Deora High School in Uluberia in Howrah found the main gate of the school locked as the staff who had the keys did not turn up due to the strike. When an ASI of Shyampukur police station and some Trinamool workers came to know about it, they broke open the lock of the gate. However, the headmaster of the school failed to turn up. In the meantime, the president of the school board was allegedly hackled. However, no formal complaint was lodged about the incident.
