‘Mass cheating’ on first day of Madhyamik

Kolkata : A day after Education Minister Bratya Basu said there is a possibility of sabotage in the Madhyamik examination, mass cheating was reported in some schools in Malda and North Dinajpur on Monday, the first day of the examination.

Reports came from exam centres under police station areas of Karondighi, Islampur, Goyalpokhor and Chakulia of North Dinajpur as well as Kaliachak block and Harish Chandrapur block of Malda.

Kalyanmoy Ganguly, administrator of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, denied having received reports of mass cheating and said that no official complaint has been lodged yet.

An examinee was injured when a fan fell on his head at a school in North Kolkata. Sham Moinuddin of Mohammed Jaan High School, whose examination centre was at Chitpur Oriental Seminary School, was rushed to hospital where he was given two stitches, board sources said.
