Bandh: ADMK files contempt plea in SC

Posted online: Friday, October 05, 2007 at 0000 hrs Print Email

NEW DELHI:: Despite the DMK-ruling combine in Tamil Nadu claiming that the Supreme Court order restraining it from proceeding with the bandh on October 1 was complied with, the AIADMK on Thursday filed a contempt petition against the ruling party in the apex court.

The petition, alleging that the DMK was in complete defiance of the court order, has urged the court to initiate proceedings for contempt against the DMK and other respondents named in the petition.

The petition alleges that the contemnors ignored the September 30 order of the apex court and failed to restrain their constituents from going ahead with the bandh.
