Andrew Symonds and Brad Hogg set a record for the seventh wicket (173) for Australia vs India. They overcame Steve Waugh and Shane Warne’s 108 in Adelaide (1999-2000). It is also a seventh-wicket record at the SCG, bettering the 160 between Richie Benaud and Graham McKenzie for Australia vs South Africa in 1963-64.

Anil Kumble became the second bowler after Australian Shane Warne to concede over 17,000 runs in Test cricket. He conceded 17,007 runs off 38,193 balls at an economy rate of 2.67 per over till the end of the opening day. Warne conceded 17,995 runs off 40,705 balls at an economy rate of 2.65 in 145 Test matches.

Hogg’s brag

Brad Hogg recorded his highest score in Test Cricket with a 79 (102 balls, 10x4). His previous best was 35 which was made in the previous Test match at Melbourne.
