Ranchi, January 11: On his return from New Delhi, Chief Minister Madhu Koda on Friday reiterated that there was no threat to his Government. “My Government will complete its full term,” he claimed at a press conference here. The Congress has set January 15 as a deadline for Koda Government to “deliver or else it will be compelled to rethink its stand on extending support to his Government”.

The state Government is being supported from outside by the Congress and the RJD and comprises eight Independent MLAs and three JMM MLAs — all of whom are Koda’s Cabinet colleagues. None of these ministers are inclined to face the elections and none among them has turned a dissident against Koda.

While JMM president Shibu Soren and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav continue to support him, the Congress MPs and MLAs are not happy with Koda’s performance. The Congress, however, is not expected to withdraw its support to the state Government without taking into confidence these two mutually hostile allies. The opposition BJP has termed this as Congress’ move to take centrestage — eclipsing both RJD and JMM — in the state’s political activity. Insiders said that Koda had sought appointments from Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her political advisor Ahmed Patel during his stay in Delhi, but in vain.

On November 15, the Congress state unit leaders, led by their in-charge Ajay Maken, had handed over a 19-point charter of demands, including “improve law and order, expedite implementation of employment and food scheme, punish corrupt officers”, asking Koda to meet these within two months.
