Ambassadors at large

Posted online: Monday, March 17, 2008 at 2243 hrs Print Email

With the Government giving Indian Ambassador to the US Ronen Sen a year more in his tenure and extending the same courtesy to India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nirupam Sen, the options have almost run out for aspirants who were eyeing the jobs. While Indian envoy to Germany Meera Shankar accepted the verdict and returned to Germany, the other high-profile diplomat and contender Hardeep Puri, who is currently India’s Ambassdor to Brazil, is in Delhi trying to work the power corridors for a suitable assignment. With ex-diplomats not fading away yet, Puri may even settle for a secretary-level job at the headquarters.
