East Zone beat North by 56 runs

Visakhapatnam, March 26: Anustup Mazumdar’s impressive knock of 109 helped East Zone beat North Zone by 56 runs in the Deodhar Trophy here today. Sourabh Tiwari, who scored 73, was the other batsman to make a valuable contribution, helping the East reach 296 for nine in 50 overs.

Among North Zone bowlers, P Sangwan claimed three wickets for 54 runs while Amit Mishra and Rajat Bhatia took two each. Chasing the victory target of 297, North made 240 for seven with Virat Kohli scoring a fine 62, including 10 fours. Uday Kaul was unbeaten on 39 while Karan Goel made 22. East bowlers I Saxena and M K Tiwary claimed two wickets each for 22 and 58 runs respectively. East Zone bagged four points from the match, while North got nil.

The title has already been decided in Central Zone’s favour.
