New Delhi, Apr 12 : A drastic organisational revamp of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is in the offing to make it capable of developing critical technologies.

Inaugurating the 32nd DRDO directors’ conference in New Delhi, defence minister AK Antony said, “Such an organisational restructuring was an effort to ensure that DRDO attained the capability of developing critical technologies as there was “little prospects” of advanced nations sharing such expertise with India.

A high-powered committee headed by eminent scientist P Rama Rao has submitted a report on revamp of the DRDO recently and the report is now being vetted by a high-level team of officials in the ministry of defence and may be presented to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) soon.
